Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most often. Don't see what you're looking for? Give us a call — we're happy to help.
Is this really a small, family business?
Yes! You'll see Greg, Emily, Jaxon, and sometimes a mix of all of us out cleaning yards. We're not a franchise or a big crew of strangers — just a local family running routes around Brighton.
Are you a legitimate, registered business?
Yes, The Poo Crew is registered with the State of Michigan.
Do you sanitize your equipment between appointments?
Yes. We use 256 Disinfectant, an animal care facility-grade disinfectant, cleaner, and deodorizer, on our tools between every yard.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. Your quote reflects what you'll be charged based on your dogs, frequency, and yard. If anything changes — like adding a dog — we'll let you know before adjusting pricing.
Do you service residential and commercial properties?
Yes. Our online quote tool is currently set up for residential customers, but we do take on commercial clients — apartment complexes, HOAs, dog parks, boarding facilities, and similar properties. Give us a call to discuss commercial service.
What time will you come?
We'll work out a general day with you after you sign up, and we'll text you when we're on the way that day. We use a route optimizer to stay efficient, so we can't promise an exact time — but if you have specific needs (like a gate that's only accessible during certain hours), let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate. Thanks in advance for your patience if traffic or a longer stop puts us a little behind schedule.
What happens if it's raining or snowing on my service day?
We'll still come if it's safe to do so, but in cases of heavy rain, ice, or significant snow cover, we may need to push your visit to the next safe opportunity. We'll catch up as soon as conditions allow.
Do I need to be home during service?
Nope! As long as we have safe access to your yard (an unlocked gate, for example), you don't need to be home. We'll text you when we're on the way and again when we're finished.
What if my dog is anxious or doesn't do well with strangers in the yard?
Just let us know! Many of our clients simply bring their dog inside or to another part of the yard during our visit. We're happy to work around your dog's routine — just communicate it with us so we can plan accordingly.
Can I pause or cancel service?
Yes, anytime — there are no long-term contracts. If you're going on vacation or your dog won't be using the yard for a while, just let us know in advance so we can pause your visits and avoid unnecessary charges.
How does billing work?
Billing is handled securely through our scheduling system and Stripe. Recurring clients are billed automatically based on their plan, and invoices are due within 15 days.
Why hire someone for this — isn't it just picking up poop?
Life gets busy, and yard cleanup is one of those chores that's easy to fall behind on — whether it's a lack of time, being out of town, a physical limitation, or just not wanting to deal with it. Beyond having a cleaner yard for your family and pets to enjoy, regular pet waste removal also helps reduce the spread of bacteria, parasites, and disease that can build up over time. We just take it off your plate.
What areas do you service?
We currently serve a number of zip codes across Southeast Michigan, centered around Brighton. Check out our service area section for the full list, or just enter your zip code in our quote tool to see if we cover your area.
